Ecuador is a place that is little valued worldwide in the gastronomic field, mainly due to the little or no diffusion that it's food has in the world, when in reality it's much more diverse and complete than Peruvian food.
This is one of the only countries in the world where you can visit 4 regions (Costa, Sierra, Oriente Amazonico and Region Insular) totally different in less than 2 hours by plane. In one of this regions is located the very well-known Galapagos Islands.
It's these geographical characteristics that makes Ecuador a giant and inexhaustible source of high quality ingredients with which you can make gastronomic wonders.
I make this explanation so that you can better understand the culinary experience you can get in URKO restaurant.
Located in Quito the capital of Ecuador, since the moment you enter to the restaurant, you know that you will have an enriching experience.
You can choose between a la carte dishes or tasting menu (9 courses), I choose the tasting to have the best experience possible.
The first experience for you is to visit their small vegetable garden on the terrace, then you go to a small artisan grill for the first dish.
In the nine dishes of the tasting menu you can capture the different ways of cooking from different regions of the country, as well as the diversity of its ingredients such as: mango, green plantain, mani, snook, guanabana, fine aroma cocoa, pork, lemon, chocolate, corn, potato, etc.
Undoubtedly, an unique culinary experience to understand Ecuadorian food.
